An angelic voice took the guests of Notre Dame University-Louaize, Shouf Campus by storm that beautiful Sunday, August 28, 2016 night. It was the voice of the Christian chanter and singer Abir Nehme who performed a selection of the most popular and enchanting hymns, as part of the recital planned among other festivities in celebration of Mar Abda’s feast.
Ms. Nehme sang two hymns that were composed by herself and her uncle. They were the surprise of the evening! While the first part of the recital was dedicated to religious hymns, the second combined patriotic songs in celebration of Lebanon.
The recital was largely attended. Among the guests were politicians and dignitaries from the Shouf region, including heads of municipalities and town mayors.
Father Hanna Tayar, Director of Notre Dame University-Louaize, Shouf Campus heartily thanked Ms. Nehme for having sung from the heart. He also thanked the invitees for their presence and wished them fine years ahead under the blessings of Mar Abda, patron saint of the Branch, and the blessed Virgin Mary, the Lady of the Hill and of Deir El Kamar.
It was an evening that celebrated faith and hope with much musical harmony and serenity. As Abir Nehme’s voice faded into the night, the attendees carried with them the peace of that evening and its heavenly feel.
